Round Lingam
The Round Lingam is delicately hand-carved from riverstone. It consists of a smooth cylindrical mass resting in the centre of a lipped, disk-shaped object, called a yoni.
A lingam sometimes referred to as linga or Shiva linga, is an abstract or aniconic representation of the Hindu deity Shiva. The yoni, is an emblem of the goddess Shakti. Practicing Hindus consider the lingam and yoni together to symbolize the union of the male and female principles and the totality of all existence. The earliest known Shiva lingam is the Gudimallam lingam from the 3rd century BCE.
